The Yi Peng Chiang Mai 2024 festival is a spectacular event that lights up the skies above Chiang Mai with thousands of glowing lanterns. Celebrated annually, this festival offers visitors a chance to witness one of Thailand’s most iconic cultural events. The release of lanterns into the night sky is a powerful moment that symbolizes the letting go of past misfortunes and the welcoming of new opportunities.
Participants start the evening at the Moonlight Sky Lantern Office, where they are transported to a Handicraft Village to enjoy local snacks and refreshments. A delicious buffet dinner follows, featuring a variety of Northern Thai dishes and soft drinks. As the main event approaches, everyone gathers to release their lanterns, creating a stunning visual display that lights up the night sky.
